What is iExec?

iExec is a decentralized cloud computing platform that is open source and operates on the Ethereum blockchain. The platform enables decentralized apps to use its cloud’s “on-demand” cloud computing resources and technology. The network enables dApps to access low-cost, high-performance resources including servers, databases, SaaS applications, web hosting, and computer farms.

To help dApps which aim to use the platform, iExec offloads processing-intensive calculations so that the blockchain’s on-chain functionalities can continue to execute smoothly. The platform does this through the usage of their open-source Desktop Grid Software, XtremeWeb-HEP. Desktop Grid computing, also known as volunteer computing, collects spare computer resources and makes them available to the corresponding renter for a range of purposes, such as a dApp.

How to participate?

iExec introduced the second phase of the Creators’ contest: most amusing and surprising oracles, awarding 100 RLC to the top ten competitors with the greatest Oracles. You need to create oracles to be eligible for the awards. Here is the step by step guide:

  • Step 1: Visit the iExec Oracle page.
  • Step 2: Connect your Ethereum wallet.
  • Step 3: Now create a custom oracle (“propose your API”) in the theme of most funny and unexpected. You can check out this tutorial.
  • Step 4: Share the link to your Oracle on Twitter using hashtag #iExecCreate.
  • Step 5: The top 10 Oracles will win 100 RLC each.
  • Step 6: The team will announce the winners by early January.
