Nicosia, Cyprus, December 2021 – The University of Nicosia (UNIC) Institute for the Future (IFF) and the Net of Companies (IOST) are pleased to announce a scholarship program aimed at empowering women in the blockchain space through which a group from The year talented, dynamic candidates with the opportunity to complete the university’s premier Masters program. The partnership begins with two student scholarships for a period of two years, with the option to increase the number of sponsored students each year from the next admission to the UNIC Blockchain MSc program and digital currency in spring 2022.

The exciting partnership aims to nurture the next generation of leaders in the field, with a stated focus on supporting and nurturing blockchain technology-oriented female leads. This purpose is in line with the IFF’s mission to train leaders, develop knowledge and build communities to prepare society for a future shaped by transformative technologies. At the same time, it is in line with IOST’s ongoing efforts to promote the formation and adoption of blockchain technology.

As part of the agreement, both parties open up the potential for collaboration in other areas of common interest including, but not limited to, the development of teaching and research technology courses and the development of distributed ledger technology.

“The strategic alliance with the University of Nicosia enables us to get more involved in blockchain education and research, which we believe are important steps towards a wider adoption of blockchain technology. UNIC previously made headlines for being the first university in the world to accept cryptocurrencies – specifically Bitcoin (BTC) – for paying tuition fees. In fact, UNIC is a global leader in cryptocurrency and blockchain research and education, the first university in the world to offer a degree in this field, as well as the first major online open course. has enrolled nearly 65,000 students from over 110 countries so far.
