The ETH-based Mirror blogging platform has just opened and it looks like the publishing protocol is breaking the popular competitive pattern as it gets into the subscription features and beyond as we read more Ethereum news today. ETH
Mirror is a decentralized Ethereum-based publishing protocol that breaks the competitive model while keeping an eye on subscriptions and other features. The ETH-based mirror is a decentralized blogging protocol that can now be used by anyone, whereas in the past there was a need to vote on potential users in the existing community. Mirror was first released in December but is now open to all YouTubers. Prior to today’s announcement, YouTubers were able to gain access to Mirror by collecting votes in the weekly WRITE race. Existing users have two hours to vote on applications that use the protocol’s WRITE token, making it something of a popularity contest. The top 10 finishers will receive a WRITE token dropped from the air, which they can redeem for a .xyz blog hosted by Mirror.

While Mirror looks similar to the popular Medium platform, it changes things with a variety of crypto functions and capabilities. The decentralized protocol allows users to log in and register with an ETH wallet while using Arweave’s blockchain-based storage protocol to permanently secure posts and increase their censorship resistance. In the past few months, Mirror has added more cryptocentric economic elements to enable monetization for users and unlock the ability to offer NFT collections, start crowdfunding campaigns and more and organize auctions. Emily Segal, for example, sponsored her novel on Mirror, and the makers of an upcoming documentary about Ethereum raised ETH worth $ 1.9 million through a tranche of crowdfunding on Mirror.

Mirror has been used by blockchain-based projects as a crypto-native method to push updates to the community and has become a very popular tool for DAOs or non-autonomous organizations. DAO communities live on Discord servers, so Mirror offers a decentralized way of exchanging information over the long term. With the latest update, WRITE Race does not need to be published on the platform, but Mirror wants to continue to incentivize users who have gone through this process and are part of the platform. Project wrote:
“The membership gained through $ WRITE Race is evolving to represent future advocates and decision-making powers of the Mirror Protocol and the DAO.”
