Netflix’s NFT “Stranger Things” is violently reacted to by the Fan
The NFT Candy Digital platform has released a minigame “Stranger Things” for Nextflix, so players must solve the NFT search puzzles of the stars in the program.
NFT “Stranger Things” is the only blockchain token on Candy Digital’s Palm blockchain — a sidechain Layer-2 of Ethereum — indicating ownership of one of five digital posters.
In April, Netflix unveiled the partnership of NFT partners with the messages hidden in the Section 4 trailer for the famous original show.
Last week, there were about 4,700 players who earned Eleven’s free NFTs by playing a mystery game involving the “Stranger Things” virtual lab.
This week, another minigame is called “I am Hell’s Master.” Players of this round must solve puzzles to earn free NFTs of Mike Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Will Byers, or Argyle characters.
However, there have recently been contradictory opinions on releasing NFT through minigames.
Among those interested in earning NFTs, at least one “Stranger Things” fan reported that they were constantly logged out of their accounts while trying to complete the challenge.
But when the “Stranger Things” Twitter account shared the NFT news last week, other fans were outraged.
“You think we care about NFT?” a fan wrote, along with a GIF of a man shooting a gun. Another Stranger Things fan wrote about NFT technology as an “engaging
“I love Stranger Things, but I’m disappointed that Netflix decided it’s a good idea to run NFT to attract my fans,” the fans wrote. “I’m not going anywhere near this dumpster.”
“I once again asked Netflix to STOP creating NFTs for my favorite shows. “I can’t handle the grief,” another fan said, referring to Netflix’s previous Ethereum NFT released for the science fiction show “Love, Death, and Robot.”
There’s nothing new about reacting harshly to NFT. There has also been a lot of outrage over Ubisoft’s push for Tezos NFTs and Square Enix’s interest in NFT games. Fan outrage over NFT has even led to the cancellation of many independent, fun NFT integrations.
