Gala Games’ blockchain game – Grit will debut on the Epic Games Store
The game company Web3 Gala Games said it would publish its blockchain games on the Epic Games Store, starting with Wild West as Grit.
It is a significant step forward for games’ visibility and main potential with non-replaceable tokens (NFT), which use blockchain to authenticate unique digital items and allow players to resell items. The exact launch time has not yet been set, but it has a live shop page.
When the leading PC games market, Steam, decided to ban Web3 games with NFTs or crypto hooks last October, emerging rival Epic Games Store announced that it would remain open for such games.
And now we know which game will be the first Web3 title to appear on Epic’s platform.
Grit is the pioneer
Gala’s GRIT, a ride-or-die battle royale set in the Wild West, will be the inaugural blockchain game available on the Epic Games Store.
GRIT is a core battle royale game built on the Unreal Engine with realistic physics and unique twists. Players need to saddle up, ride and fight through town, producing the best poker hand from found weapons to make a killing.
Every game of GRIT is different, from Train Chase mode to Golden Horse, and will test your skills and strategy against other players in epic showdowns and shootouts. Players face off against a gang of gunslingers with more than 400 old-school gun variations. Play modes include solo, duo, and squad. Showdowns take place on horseback to steam engine train tops, so players need to make sure their arsenal is ready for the deadly Calamity. Fans can wishlist the free game, launching later in 2022.
Galaverse event
Gala will release 10,000 player avatars to GRIT, providing a unique look and feel and custom elements for the owner. The company will be offering avatars through a “Gunslinger’s Box” sale at the publisher’s Galaverse event in Malta.
GRIT seems to be a Fortnite-like experience with many players dropped into a free-to-death battle, albeit with a distinctive Western aesthetic. It will launch at the end of 2022 and run on Epic Games’ main Unreal Engine.
