CryptoPunks #7756 Sold For 1,050 ETH (~ $3.2 Million)
A 24×24 pixel artwork called CryptoPunk #7756 was sold for an impressive 1,050 Ethereum ($3.2 million). According to OpenSea’s data, this punk was bought by an NFT collector named ‘Cry’, who joined the leading NFT marketplace in January 2019 and has collected over 1,600 NFTs on the platform.
Punk’s qualities define the worth of each punk NFT, with the hoodie, beanie, and pilot helmet traits being the most valued. Other Punk species (Zombies, Apes, and Aliens) are extremely rare and command a high price. The properties of Punk #7756, which has the rare Zombie type, is presented as below:
CryptoPunks is a collection of generative art and one of the earliest NFT collections. There are only 10,000 punks left in the world. In 2021, CryptoPunks have attracted a lot of interest from the public, with dozens of celebrities proudly displaying their punk ownership on Twitter. Sales of cryptopunk art are a leading signal for the rest of the NFT market, indicating that some people are ready to spend big money on NFTs.
Chain CEO Deepak Thapliyal paid $23.7 million for a rare CryptoPunks NFT in February this year.
The Ethereum-based project was created in 2017, when NFTs were still a mysterious concept for the public to understand. Larva Labs, the company behind the collection, gave out some CryptoPunks for free at first as a test before the project gained popularity.
CryptoPunks has appeared in the Bored Ape Yacht Club Metaverse’s trailer named ‘Otherside’ in March beside many renowned NFT characters as Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, CryptoPunks, CrypToadz, Meebits, Nouns, and World of Women. This trailer is a groundbreaking bomb for NFT lovers, however, there aren’t many details on what ‘Otherside’ will be at the time of writing.
