El Salvador President Nayib Bukele Did Not Attend Bitcoin Conference 2022 Due to ‘Unforeseen Circumstances’

El Salvador did not attend Bitcoin Conference

El Salvador President, Nayib Bukele, has announced that he would not attend the Bitcoin conference 2022 in Miami, Florida, owing to “unforeseen circumstances” in his country.

Bukele said in the letter, “I will have to be on another flank in the battle for freedom, but my heart and the hearts of millions in the country I was blessed to be born in, will be with you during this celebration of humanity.”

El Salvador is now engaged in a severe fight against “maras,” which are criminal gangs. El Salvador’s Legislative Assembly suspended constitutional rights for 30 days after 62 people were killed on a local mara.

“While we fight criminals in the streets, we must try to figure out what is happening and who is financing this,” said Bukele on the spate of violence plaguing the Central American nation, according to the BBC.

According to El Salvador’s National Police, 6,894 gang members have been arrested in the last 11 days.

Miami Bull statue has been shown at Bitcoin Conference 2022

Mayor Francis X. Suarez joined TradeStation to unveil the Miami Bullan 11-foot, 3,000-pound statue. The Bull was commissioned by Miami-born fintech firm TradeStation and presented in Miami to celebrate its culture of innovation as it further stakes its claim as the world’s new epicentre of crypto and fintech.

The statue is an artistic and modern interpretation of the Charging Bull that sits near Wall Street, which serves as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. The Miami Bull seeks to both honour Miami and champion the latest fintech technologies that have emerged around the world, including the emergence of blockchain, cryptocurrency and decentralized finance.
