Zigazoo Kids’ Social Media App is Launching NFTs. CoComelon Heading to Flow Blockchain

The NFT market is constantly expanding, and young children could be the next target audience for tokenized digital collectibles. At least, that’s the demographic on which the kid-focused social media app Zigazoo is betting with its new NFT platform, which will include major properties such as YouTube sensation CoComelon.

Today, Zigazoo revealed its full plans, announcing an initiative to introduce NFT collectibles that help young people learn and better understand technology through kid-friendly content. The platform will be hosted on Flow, the blockchain platform that powers NBA Top Shot and NFL All Day. Dapper Labs, the creator of Flow, is an investor in Zigazoo.

Moonbug Entertainment will bring the video franchises CoComelon, Blippi, and My Magic Pet Morphle to Zigazoo’s NFT platform, starting with CoComelon. According to a press release, the CoComelon NFTs will feature main character JJ “in his signature outfits.”

CoComelon is an extremely popular YouTube channel that creates nursery rhyme-themed animated content for young children. It has 132 million followers and has received over 126 billion views to date, making it one of the most-viewed YouTube channels in the world.

There is no schedule for the CoComelon or other Moonbug NFT launches. Zigazoo will also release NFTs based on the Invisible Universe’s Qai Qai character, which was inspired by a doll made for Alexis Olympia Ohanian, the daughter of tennis star Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

Zigazoo NFT debut

Before the launch of those franchises, Zigazoo will debut NFTs by 13-year-old artist Nyla Hayes, whose Long Neckie Ladies artwork portrays people (including famous figures) with elongated necks.

She has previously released other NFTs, including one as the artist in residence for TIME magazine’s TIMEPieces initiative. Hayes’ new NFTs will be available through Zigazoo today, and she will serve as a community educator for the platform.
