Dogecoin Co-Founder Says DOGE Needs to Market Itself as “Digital Currency”
The developer of Dogecoin, Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, would like DOGE not be labeled as a “meme” cryptocurrency. “Dogecoin needs to market itself as a digital currency,” he advises instead.
The Dogecoin founder condemns scammy tokens in a series of tweets, referring to them as “shit tokens,” which he defines as “any’meme’ token.” anything that isn’t useful. “Any token that is used to spam threads.”
“There’s already infinite digital speculation and digital utility tokens and chains, and pointless speculation tokens are made daily,” he says, explaining why Dogecoin has to shed its meme status. “Dogecoin is in the best position to become the most widely used cryptocurrency for purchasing and tipping.”
He emphasizes how supporters may help the DOGE project:
‘You can contribute directly to the core code, you can contribute to one of the many projects the dogecoin foundation is spearheading. nothing stops you from helping the thing that you want to succeed. speculation has brought attention. work brings utility.”
According to previously posted Github notes, Dogecoin may see another core release. The notes are related to the v1.14.6 release. In November 2021, the most current version of DOGE, v1.14.5, was published, which included major security fixes and network policy modifications.
In February, the DOGE founder announced his plan to campaign for DOGE tipping on Twitter on Twitter.
Markus stated on Twitter that he plans to make at least one tweet each day with the #DogeTwitterTipJar hashtag to keep the Twitter team informed about his objective of expanding the use cases of DOGE for tipping.
The DOGE founder stated that he will “keep bugging Twitter” because he feels DOGE should be utilized for tipping on Twitter.
Twitter’s social media giant unveiled a feature in February that lets users of its mobile app to reward their favorite content creators with Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap behind Bitcoin.
