Big Time Studios is going big with a funding round of $21 million to bring NFT to the biggest game economies. The Los Angeles company was started by CEO Ari Meilich (who was previously CEO of Decentraland) and game designer Thor Alexander.
CoinCu News recently had the opportunity to speak with Big Time Studios Project Manager Nirvan Panjwani to understand more about the company’s vision, goals, and future plans.
CoinCu News: “Can you give us a brief description of your company’s activities, values, and mission?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “Big Time Studios has recruited an all-star team of game industry veterans from the likes of Epic Games, Blizzard, EA and Riot. Individually, we’ve contributed to some of the best-loved franchises in gaming history, including Fortnite, God of War, Call of Duty, and Overwatch just to name a few. Together, we aim to leverage our strengths to build something new and groundbreaking. Our fully remote team is working around the world… combining artistic prowess, technical innovation, and business leadership to set new standards in gaming.”
CoinCu News: “Can you tell us a little about yourself? (What is your background? What inspired you to pursue this line of work?)”
Nirvan Panjwani: “My name is Nirvan, I’ve been working in the marketing industry for a while now, and I joined Big Time around 8 months ago. I started as a growth consultant but I am now a full-time project manager on the marketing team.”
CoinCu News: “What advice would you give yourself if you could go back in time a year or two?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “To start earlier haha.”
CoinCu News: “What problem does your company solve?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “Big Time is a multiplayer action RPG where you team up with friends to adventure across time and space. Explore ancient mysteries and futuristic civilizations as you battle your way through history. Collect rare and legendary NFT items to decorate your avatar and personal time machine where you can hang out with your friends.”
CoinCu News: “What problem are you attempting to solve/are you facing, and for whom?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “I’d say one of our challenges has been explaining the benefits of blockchain to traditional gamers, as they’re super averse to all things NFT and crypto. I think part of that comes from the huge amount of rug pulls and scams at the beginning of the DeFi and NFT boom. Those projects really left a bad taste in their mouth and it has turned them off of all web3 projects.”
CoinCu News: “What inspired your team to start a business in the blockchain game space?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “There weren’t many good quality AAA blockchain games out there, so we sought to solve that.”
CoinCu News: “What has your company done to build a dream team?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “We’ve hired an all-star team from all the biggest studios out there. These people have built some of your favourite games, like Call of Duty, League of Legends, God of War, Overwatch 2, etc.”
CoinCu News: “What are your plans for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “We are a game studio, so long term we’d like to announce more titles as well.”
CoinCu News: “What has been your most difficult obstacle thus far?”
Nirvan Panjwani: “Building a truly AAA game has taken us a while, almost coming up on 3 years now. Luckily, we have our early access launching next quarter!”
CoinCu News: “How do you get people to participate in your vision/ business? Finish with a description of who you want to contact you and how they can collaborate with you.”
