Design Bundles, a creative resource, looked into the most popular NFTs based on the amount of times they were searched on Google each month.Axie Infinity came out on top with 3.86 million monthly global searches.

The popularity of NFTs has skyrocketed in recent months, with monthly global searches for “NFT” reaching 5.1 million, about five times higher than in late 2021. The trading resource has been dubbed the “new crypto” as a result of recent celebrity and media exposure.

The collection includes “Axies” which are characters in an online game akin to Pokemon, with each character digitized as an NFT and saved on the Ethereum blockchain.

Receiving an average of 553,000 monthly global searches, the second most searched for NFT collection is The Sandbox. Similar to Axie Infinity, The Sandbox is a virtual metaverse where players interact with the game through the use of NFTs.

Celebrities and well-known businesses have expressed interest in the game, including Snoop Dogg, who recently released 10,000 playable characters on the platform, and Gucci, which recently announced ambitions to establish a “virtual universe for Gen Z.” The total value of the Sandbox NFT collection is $369.15 million, with 37,518 traders.

With 201,000 global searches, Decentraland is the seventh most googled NFT collection. The NFT collection is similar to The Sandbox in that users use the MANA money to purchase virtual pieces of land.
