Salad Ventures announce that their latest private token sale round raised $13.5 million. This latest round follows a $2M seed round led by Multicoin Capital, bringing their total funding to $15.5M.
Salad Ventures is a blockchain think tank that catalyzes and builds innovations forming the foundation of the new play-to-earn economy. It manages one of the top gaming guilds globally, Apollo Squad, the world’s premier guild management platform, GuildOS, and offers massive open online courses (MOOC) education through its learn-to-earn platform, Salad Academy.
The funding is being used to build features for GuildOS, expand their play-to-earn infrastructure, and amplify their education projects. Investors include Alameda Research, Alan Howard and BH Digital, C2 Ventures, Foundation Capital, Gemini Frontier Fund, Winklevoss Capital, Crossbeam Venture Partners, Polygon Studios, and more.
The product that compelled investors to break out their checkbooks was GuildOS, described as a full-stack operating system for the play-to-earn gaming space. Ostensibly, GuildOS is a web-based platform that can be leveraged to form, manage and scale a community of dedicated gamers that pool their resources and share earnings among themselves. Investors that participated in the round included Alameda Research, Alan Howard and BH Digital, C2 Ventures, Foundation Capital, Gemini Frontier Fund, Winklevoss Capital, Crossbeam Venture Partners, Rarestone Capital and Polygon Studios, among several others.
“We’re excited by the global economic opportunities unlocked by blockchain games, in which guilds have emerged as key facilitators of this growing ecosystem. With Apollo Squad, GuildOS, and Salad Academy, Salad Ventures is building a sophisticated flywheel. When combined with the company’s demonstrated ability to attract talent and secure promising assets, Salad is well positioned in this expanding space.” — Alex Notis, Crossbeam Venture Partners.
GuildOS, is their secure, web-based platform that allows anyone to start, manage, and scale a play-to-earn guild in any blockchain game. This is the only web-based tool in the market that lets its users manage scholar accounts, wallets, and private keys while performing in-game actions all from a single dashboard across many games. Access to GuildOS will be granted via NFTs that will act as authentication keys. They are deep in the development of GuildOS and plan to release it, along with the NFTs, by the end of Q2 2022.
“Despite the fact that a deep ecosystem has developed over the last 12 months, most P2E game tools are focused solely on Axie Infinity and provide ‘read-only’ dashboards therefore not solving the real challenges related to operating a play-to-earn guild. At Salad Ventures, we’re addressing this problem head-on by decentralizing the gaming guild model and developing a guild operating system that can interact directly with game APIs and blockchains, allowing game managers to coordinate multiple scholar accounts across different blockchain games.” — Felix Sim, Salad Ventures Co-Founder and Project Lead
“The full-stack combination of Apollo Squad, GuildOS, and Salad Academy gives Salad Ventures the unique ability to provide the foundational elements necessary for the emerging P2E ecosystem to prosper. We’re proud to support Felix and the Salad Ventures team on their mission to stay ahead of the game,” — Marty Stenson, Ventures Lead at Gemini.
In addition to developing GuildOS, the new funds will also go to further scaling Salad Academy, Salad Ventures’ massive open online course (MOOC) platform specializing in play-to-earn blockchain games. Since its launch in December 2021, over 6,000 students have signed up at the academy to learn P2E strategies. They also partnered with Project Galaxy to issue NFTs to students that certify the completion of their course.
