The Bitcoin community has been confused when New York City’s cryptocurrency-friendly mayor, Eric Adams, expressed his opposition to crypto mining at a local government budget meeting with elected officials in Albany:
“I support cryptocurrency, not crypto mining,” he said.
Dr. Anna Kelles, a New York State Assemblymember, praised Adams for distinguishing between cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency mining. She said that New York City could become the crypto capital of the United States without supporting environmentally harmful mining activities.
In contrast, some crypto enthusiasts think that Eric Adams’ thought is so “shameful”.
