Axie Infinity Token Price Increases More Than 40% Due To The Game’s Economics Change
The value of Axie Infinity’s token $AXS increased by more than 40% after the NFT game announced changes that will eliminate two ways for players to get play-to-earn tokens.
The next Season 20 release will contain a number of adjustments aimed at rebalancing the game’s economics. These modifications mostly influence the game’s play-to-earn token Smooth Love Potion, or SLP. According to the Axie Infinity team, players will no longer be able to earn them via participating in daily tasks and playing adventure mode.
“The daily quest, in principle, was great to encourage people to play every day, but it’s now become a mass emission mechanism for SLP. By removing the daily quest, we are able to reduce issuance by around 45 million SLP per day,” the team said.
The supply of SLP will be reduced by up to 56% as a result of the future adjustments, making them rare. Because SLP tokens are required to breed new Axies from old ones, NFTs should be in short supply as well, which has helped boost the price of the AXS token in which they are traded.
An Axie Infinity token is now worth $65.36, up from $47.80 at the time the Axie team announced last Thursday.
SLP, on the other hand, increased from $0.009 on Thursday to $0.016 on Monday.
