Twitter is providing a new motivation for NFT fans to pay for a Twitter Blue membership. The firm is now developing a new features that will allow NFT owners to authorize NFTs featured in their profile images.

The functionality, which is available as an early stage “Labs” option for Twitter Blue customers, allows NFT owners to link their crypto wallet to their Twitter account and use an NFT as their profile photo.
While many NFTs owners currently use the artwork in their profile photographs, the Twitter Blue feature will include an indicator indicating that the NFT has been validated and that the person behind the account is the actual owner of the item.
Although only Twitter Blue members will be able to use the functionality, the authentication indicator will be accessible to all Twitter users. Other users will be able to touch on the hexagon symbol in the picture to learn more about the NFTs.

While Twitter has previously said that it is working on an NFT authentication service, it is significant that the functionality will be available initially to Twitter Blue members. In November, the business launched the $3/month membership service in an attempt to attract to power users who would pay for specialized services.
According to the firm, the NFT function is “still under active development,” and it’s unclear whether it wants to make it more publicly available. Twitter has previously said that early-stage “labs” features are experiments that may be made accessible outside of Twitter Blue, retained for subscribers, or discontinued outright.
