Yuqing Irene Zhao, a crypto influencer and Instagram model, sold all her 500 NFTs in and had a DAO in just a few days.
It all started with the content creators platform of Irene, So-Col. So-Col stands for “Social Collectables,” and the platform’s purpose is to assist content producers in monetizing their work and building their communities. The platform, which stated itself as the “decentralized version of OnlyFans, Discord, Twitch, and Patreon,” enables content producers and influencers to transform their digital products into NFTs.
Irene and her business partner, Benjamin Tang, released a sticker pack for her Telegram community to use last Tuesday. After that, a Twitter account called “libevm.eth” contacted Irene to suggest an amazing idea: turning her sticker pack into NFTs and selling them. Irene agreed, and it’s a big turning point in her career.
On Friday, January 14, they tokenized the stickers into 1,106 NFTs and sold them on OpenSea under the name “IreneDAO”. Surprisingly, 500 NFTs were sold in just 40 minutes!
“What we didn’t expect was that our test case was an instant hit. In fact, I was not even aware when it was launched – I was out for a swimming lesson! By the time I came back from the pool after 40 minutes, the entire 500 NFTs were gone. I didn’t even have one to myself,” Irene said.
Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz and Logan Paul, have already bought some of her NFTs.
IreneDAO is not only supported by celebrities, but it is also backed by some big VCs like Animoca, Defiance, 3AC, and Mechanism.
IreneDAO’s core value is “Simplicity, Integrity, Meaning, Purpose”, which is known as SIMP. Some of her fans joke that SimpFi will be the new trend for the crypto industry.
