Discord’s CEO is withdrawing his comments on the crypto wallet integration after massive outrage from the community just three days after the announcement. So read more in the upcoming crypto news of our arrival today.
Jason Citron, CEO of Discord, tweeted an image showing the Discord layout and integration with crypto wallets like Connect and MetaMask. He returned to his comment a few days later, adding that Platofrm currently has no plans for wallet-integrated shipping. The reason is still unclear, but based on the wave of negative feedback on the tweet, the functionality may have been paused due to the strong outcry from the community, according to one comment:
“I can’t wait to tell my friends that Discord is promoting pyramid schemes.”

Another user responded to the tweet by saying, “Don’t make me do this Jason” and added a screenshot showing a user canceling their subscription. Out of 3000 responses, some users followed suit and tried to get their subscriptions. Another Discord spokesperson noted that Platofrm has no plans to deliver integrated cryptocurrencies, adding that Discord is excited about the potential of web3 technology with its many other ways to come together on Platofrm, kator and environmentally friendly.
Take a look at Discord’s support channel, there are thousands of posts urging the company not to incorporate crypto.
There’s a reason critics are using this acquisition strategy to raise Nitro subscriptions. Nitro is Discord’s premium service that costs $ 9.99 per month that allows users an upload limit, animated avatars, etc., and is also the main source of income for the company. The Wall Street Journal reported that the service grossed $ 130 million for the company a year ago and $ 45 million in 2019. These numbers have drawn many investors looking to bet big on the company’s future.
TL; DR will not leave the Discord platform if they officially launch N / F / T and support crypto wallets

After a $ 500 million investment by Dragoneer Investment Group, the platform is now valued at $ 15 billion. As Discord grows beyond its roots in the gaming world, crypto communities are playing a more influential role in developing the platform. It’s still difficult to quantify the number of servers versus all servers, but Citron indicated that the company is following the needs of its rapidly growing user base.
