However, the issue came to the fore in August when the debate over the wording of the existing infrastructure bill included tax reporting requirements for cryptocurrency developers, transaction validators and node operators.

The bill has since been passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate with no further explanation on crypto brokers and is awaiting approval from President Joe Biden. The US president is expected to sign the law on November 15th.
