The official mirror announcement from ENS states that $ ENS will be used to vote on the proposed constitution and regulate the protocol parameters. The first subjects for holders to vote on in the new ENS DAO are prophecies about the price and distribution of the community’s current and future treasury funds.

Ethereum wallet users who have created ENS domains in the past are eligible to claim $ ENS from the claim site until May 4, 2022. Unclaimed tokens will be sent to the DAO Treasury. The ENS domain assigns readable names with the ending .eth (like “alice.eth”) to Ethereum addresses.

A quarter of the total $ ENS offering has been made available to .eth domain owners to be fully claimed. Each wallet received a different amount of $ ENS depending on how long they held their domain, the expiration date, and whether they set a primary ENS.

At the time of writing, crypto data aggregator CoinGecko estimates ENS ranks 313 among the largest crypto assets with a market capitalization of $ 235 million and a massive total valuation of $ 3.16 trillion.

The token has seen extreme price volatility and nine-digit trading volume, most recently at $ 31.53 with a daily gain of 75% at press time.
