Sources revealed that Tampa Mayor Jane Castor made the announcement at the Florida Bitcoin & Blockchain Summit, held at the Amalie Arena somewhere in downtown Tampa. Accordingly, she is ready to receive her salary in the famous cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

A conference attendee’s testimony confirms that the C Network crypto-lending platform will be responsible for backing the mayor’s BTC payments as it challenges its counterpart in Miami.

Meanwhile, just a few days ago, the Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, announced that he would get his next salary entirely in BTC.

The news quickly spread across the crypto community on Twitter, with Bitcoin evangelist Anthony Pompliano claiming that no fewer than 4 US mayors have started accepting at least part of their salaries in BTC.

Tampa Mayor Accepts Bitcoin Salary After Mayors of Miami and New York Do the same

Castor’s decision appears to be motivated by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who recently became the first mayor to receive 100% of his salary in bitcoin. New York City Mayor Eric Adams followed suit and announced that he would accept his first three salaries entirely in cryptocurrency.

Both Adams and the newly elected Suarez are pretty strong supporters of Bitcoin and have made their intentions to turn their respective cities into crypto hubs more public. Seconds after his election, Adams announced that New York City would become “the hub of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries.”

Despite some extreme price swings this year, Bitcoin has returned to record highs since late October and continues to trade above $ 60,000. The price hike has also been picked up with skyrocketing popularity, high adoption, and sky-high mainstream adoption even by regulators and financial institutions.
