The purpose of the ENS DAO vote is to choose stewards for four working groups. DAO members vote by picking their favorite candidates from a pool of persons who run for office.

The working groups are the Meta-Governance, ENS Ecosystem, Community, and Public Goods.

Accordingly, the functions of working groups are introduced as follows:

  • Meta-Governance: providing governance oversight and support of the management and operation of the ENS DAO and working groups;
  • ENS Ecosystem: continuing development and improvement of the ENS protocol and ecosystem, with a focus on all technical matters related to ENS;
  • Community: supporting the people and organizations that are users of ENS, with a focus on non-technical matters; and
  • Public Goods: amplifying ENS as a public good and funding public goods within the ENS ecosystem and, more broadly, within Web3.

Working groups are sub-groups of the DAO in the ENS community that handle certain functions. These smaller organizations have stewards and community members who make decisions for the DAO without involving the wider community.

According to the ENS literature, this form of design helps to streamline DAO administration along essential sections.

These stewards will be chosen for a six-month term commencing January 1, 2023. According to the ENS DAO Snapshot voting website, the voting session will finish on December 15.
