Sui Network, a Layer 1 public chain, presented a review of the Sui Testnet Wave 1 and stated plans to start Testnet Wave 2 in early 2023.
During the Testnet Wave 1 run, the team conducted network tests for Genesis, Monitoring, Communication, Mitigation, and Updates, as well as issues such as consensus stalls, updating consensus status for freshly restarted validators, and determining the underlying cause of memory leaking.

Genesis: The team successfully conducted a collaborative genesis ceremony with their validators to bring Sui online.
Monitoring: In Wave 1 the team set up global monitoring to observe consensus health, networking health, throughput, and resource usage.
Communication: During Wave 1, the Sui team tried a single Discord channel for communication and found that this simple approach met our needs fairly well.
Mitigation: Wave 1 let the blockchain practice processes to detect, diagnose, and mitigate network events involving issues such as disconnection, misconfiguration, documentation error, node sync and catch up, consensus reliability, machine resource consumption, and transaction traffic surges.
Updates: Throughout Wave 1 the team rolled out three different software updates to mitigate issues as they arose. All operators were able to update to the new version with no downtime or data loss.
A testnet with no operational mishaps is a lost chance to learn how to troubleshoot and mitigate problems in a real environment. The operators were able to comprehend, repair, and enhance Sui despite the difficulties provided by Testnet Wave 1.
During this time, Testnet Wave 1 completed 22 million total transactions and 11 million total on-chain NFTs.
The team also stated that Testnet Wave 2 would concentrate on epoch management, tokenomics, and stake delegation.
