According to Decrypt, from police records, the cause of death of MakerDAO co-founder Nikolai Mushegian is still awaiting autopsy results, and Puerto Rico police have not found any evidence of murder. In the months leading up to Nikolai’s death, the cryptocurrency’s founder began posting increasingly conspiratorial messages on Twitter, implied that Nikolai Mushegian girlfriend had implicated him in a criminal conspiracy involving government espionage.

Rune Christensen, MakerDAO co-founder, told Decrypt that he spoke with Nikolai three months ago and that he seems to be in good spirits. However, he has expressed concern about government conspiracies and criminals.

“He seemed happy to be building his new stablecoin RICO,(…). But he was also worried about a criminal group he believed was trying to interfere with his work.”

Christensen said

However, a source close to the investigation said they believe several factors in the investigation led to the possibility that Mushegian’s death was treated as a suicide.

Tether founder Craig Sellars and 21Paradigm co-creator Dylan Leclair confirmed the news on Twitter and expressed their condolences.
