Interpol Suddenly Announces The First Global Police Metaverse Project

Interpol suddenly launched the first global police Metaverse project. The virtual world enables this intergovernmental criminal police organization to provide extensive training to law enforcement across the globe.

At a surprise session of the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly in New Delhi, the global police organization unveiled the first Metaverse specifically designed for law enforcement worldwide.

During the interactive session, the delegates of the General Assembly in New Delhi were able to enter the Lyon building using a digital avatar, using a virtual reality headset.

Fully operational, INTERPOL Metaverse allows registered users to tour a virtual replica of the INTERPOL Secretary General’s headquarters in Lyon, France without any geographical or physical boundaries, interacting with officers through their profile picture and even take part in role-playing training in forensic investigation and other policy-making activities.

INTERPOL Metaverse is powered through INTERPOL Secure Cloud, ensuring its neutrality.

Realize that as the number of Metaverse users grows and technology further develops, the list of possible crimes will only expand to potentially include crimes against children, data theft, laundering money, financial fraud, counterfeiting, ransomware, fraud, assault and sexual harassment.

The agency has used Metaverse to bring many benefits to law enforcement, especially in terms of teleworking, networking, gathering and preserving evidence from crime scenes, and providing training.

“The Metaverse has the potential to transform every aspect of our daily lives with enormous implications for law enforcement,(…). But in order for police to understand the Metaverse, we need to experience it,”

Mr Oberoi said

In a follow-up discussion, INTERPOL also announced the creation of an Expert Group on Metaverse to represent law enforcement concerns on a global scale – ensure this new virtual world is secure by design.
