Major League Baseball (MLB), a 30-club American professional baseball league, is searching for someone to lead digital gaming, NFT, and metaverse licensing initiatives.
According to a LinkedIn post, the role entails implementing strategic partnerships to develop the MLB’s digital portfolio in NFTs, metaverse, wearable technologies, and AR/VR products, implying that the MLB would want to widen its digital asset releases and metaverse presence in the future.
This year, the MLB has made a few more waves in Web3. The League began selling NFTs in January through a collaboration with Candy Digital, a digital collectibles firm co-founded by top Web3 executives Mike Novogratz, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Michael Rubin.
Major League Baseball also collaborated with Sorare, an NFT-based fantasy sports business, to offer collectible NFTs of MLB players, becoming Sorare’s official NFT baseball partner.
