Google To Accept Crypto Payments For Cloud Services Through Coinbase Partnership
Google said Tuesday at its Cloud Next conference that it will accept cryptocurrency payments through a connection with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
Crypto payments will first be available to a small number of Web3 sector clients. Coinbase Prime, Coinbase’s custody service, will also be used by Google.
Brian Armstrong, Co-founder and CEO of Coinbase, said:
“We are excited Google Cloud has selected Coinbase to help bring Web3 to a new set of users and provide powerful solutions to developers.
With more than 100 million verified users and 14,500 institutional clients, Coinbase has spent more than a decade building industry-leading products on top of blockchain technology. We could not ask for a better partner to help execute our vision of building a trusted bridge into the Web3 ecosystem.”
Recently, the internet behemoth has been expanding its crypto features and services, with Ethereum wallet balances now appearing when an address is searched on Google, and BNB Chain working with Google Cloud to help the growth of early-stage Web3 and blockchain firms. The search engine also featured a countdown clock to Ethereum’s new proof-of-stake update.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said:
“We want to make building in Web3 faster and easier, and this partnership with Coinbase helps developers get one step closer to that goal.”
