Cardano inventor Charles Hoskinson said in a September 18 broadcast that the Vasil hard fork implementation is currently in its final stages after the hard fork combinator request was granted.
Hoskinson went on to say that the automatic process of deploying the Vasil update had begun and that we’d all be able to sit back and watch the Vasil rocket take off.
“It’s in the air right now…There’s no going back now. It’s been initiated.”
While the upgrade is set to go live on September 22, Charles Hoskinson warned that some of the upgrade impacts will not be noticeable until September 27 owing to a variety of technical reasons. Hoskinson did not divulge the reasons behind this.
The Cardano inventor also urged the community to upgrade their wallets to Daedalus 5.0.0, which has several significant changes.
Charles Hoskinson describes the update as “particularly special” since it is named after his close buddy Vasil Dabov. The Bulgarian mathematician, who was an active part of the Cardano community, died in December of last year.
“I’m glad that we’re able to immortalize his legacy forever in the Cardano ecosystem,” Hoskinson said.
Meanwhile, the Vasil update is the most ambitious Cardano improvement. It is intended to significantly increase network scalability by boosting throughput, script efficiency, and lowering latency in block transfer.
