Keplr Wallet Trending On Twitter As The $360,000/Year Integration Fee
The popular Keplr wallet is trending on Crypto Twitter on Monday after users became concerned about the $360,000/year integration fee.
Kujira, the Cosmos DeFi project, took to Twitter on Sunday to complain about a $360,000 annual fee to integrate natively into the popular Keplr wallet. Kujira said:
As of Monday morning, the term “Keplr” was trending on Crypto Twitter. The Kujira team went on to say that a specialized Kurija wallet is required to deliver on its intended feature set.
The governance proposal for the Juno integration into Keplr states that the charge for a 12-month integration is $360,000. The referendum passed with 85% approval in January. The Juno Community Pool footed the price “for development, operations, and infrastructure for Keplr Wallet native integration.”
On Twitter, people were debating whether the price should be more transparent and whether it represents good value.
Although permissionless integration is free, a dApp that uses this method will not be listed natively in the Keplr wallet. “Native integration” is essentially a component of the Keplr monetization model, with projects paying a price to be prominently listed. Permissionless integrations do not have access to support, endpoint infrastructure, or staking.
The pricing for native integration is not indicated in the integration part of the Keplr website shown above. The Keplr website says ‘Get in Touch’ in the place allocated for pricing information.
