In a multi-year partnership, Google Cloud will be the stand-alone enterprise validator for Ronin on the node team alongside Animoca Brands, DappRadar, and Nansen. The company will take on the role of monitoring validator uptime and contribute to the overall security of the network.

According to Sky Mavis co-founder and CTO, Ho Viet Anh, one of the reasons for the partnership is Google Cloud’s ability to deploy automated applications and automated features.

Ruma Balasubramanian, managing director at Google Cloud, said they will work with Sky Mavis to accelerate the roadmap and grow the Ronin network with a more secure infrastructure. Ruma also praised the play-to-earn (P2E) concept that Axie Infinity created and emphasized that there are other potential possibilities that could emerge from the partnership.

The co-founder and CEO of Sky Mavis, Aleksander Larsen said:

“Validators have the important duty of ensuring that transactions on Ronin are processed correctly. They also serve as crucial ecosystem partners and supervisors. Google Cloud, which sits at the intersection of being a recognized contributor to the developer community and having deep technical expertise in blockchain infrastructure and running validators, was naturally one of the top choices.”

The partnership with Google Cloud is part of Sky Mavis’ effort to enhance security measures to avoid another incident like the Ronin hack. In March, the Ronin network was hacked, the damage estimated at more than $600 million. During the time of the hack, Sky Mavis only had nine confirmation buttons. Currently, the company says it has 18 validator nodes and is working to increase the number to 21.
