PwC Venezuela Twitter Account Hacked To “Shill” XRP
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Venezuela’s official Twitter account has been hacked to promote an XRP scam.
It’s promoting a major event with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse that will happen today. Its tweet includes a link to entice potential victims to send their cryptocurrency. Previously, other verified accounts with a large following had been compromised to propagate the same hoax.
This account is still hijacked by hackers and continues to post cheap scams.
For years, XRP giveaway scams have appeared on social media. Ripple launched a lawsuit against YouTube in April 2020 for failing to prevent and remove such schemes. According to the business, YouTube’s reluctance to crack down on bogus XRP videos harmed its reputation.
After all these years, social media is still rife with Bitcoin scams. Scammers frequently target verified accounts to provide credibility to their fake services.
On Saturday, the South Korean government’s official YouTube channel was hacked and renamed “SpaceX Invest.” With a live broadcast featuring Tesla CEO Elon Musk, it was promoting a cryptocurrency scam.
