Dogecoin Gains Notoriety as DOGE-Supported Aliens Basketball Team Wins Medals

As two players from the DOGE-backed Aliens basketball team won midseason accolades, Dogecoin once more stole the show.

As Bill Lee, the founding chairman of MyDoge, a self-custodial DOGE wallet, purchased all 25 fire-tier editions of Aliens, a Big3 basketball team, DOGE entered the league.

The Killer 3s’ licensing, intellectual property (IP), and stuff that the Big3 league had approved were handed over to the new owners when the Big3 league chose to sell 25 fire-tier NFTs in April.

The purchase led to Big3 Aliens adopting DOGE and enabling the MyDoge wallet, which enables players, coaches, and teams to earn DOGE tips on Twitter with only a tweet. In their most recent matches, Aliens also prominently displayed DOGE on their squad uniforms.

Nearing launch is the Dogecoin Core version

The Dogecoin Core update 1.14.6 may be released shortly, according to recent information posted on Twitter, while the release notes are being written. The upgrade aims to bring significant network efficiency improvements and security enhancements.

The Core update also aims to change the recommended dust limit for all users of the DOGE network from 1 DOGE to 0.01 DOGE and to harden node and network security. DOGE attempts to provide consumers with a cheap method of transacting by having a very short block interval.

In order to combat on-chain spam, a dust disincentive was introduced in 2014. In order to reflect the developers’ suggestions for fees and dust restrictions, DOGE Core integrates several defaults into the program. These defaults indicate the developers’ best guess as to the specifications of these constraints at the time of release.

The wallet rejects transactions with outputs below the dust limit, and if the output of change falls below 0.01 DOGE, the wallet will trash the change and distribute it to the miners as a fee. The suggested dust limit is likely to be lowered in a forthcoming release once sufficient numbers of miners and relay nodes have adopted the recently added relay dust limits.
