Cardano’s Technical Architect At IOG Is Working On “Tsunami”

Cardano’s IOG Principal Technical Architect, Duncan Coutts, shares his excitement about incoming projects and upgrades for Cardano.

He stated in a recent interview:

“We have many new technical developments in the pipeline. Some of them are happening sooner than others, but all of them will have big impacts on our community.”

The Cardano blockchain has seen a ton of recent improvements, and there is now a lot going on with the ongoing Vasil hard fork, the just announced Lace lite wallet, and EVM sidechains. Coutts, however, focused on three distinct topics: peer-to-peer networking, input endorsers, and the Vasil hard fork.

Input guarantors

Input endorsers refer to one of the 11 strategies that ADA aims to use to achieve scaling in 2022 and seek to speed up block propagation rates. As transactions can be divided into pre-built blocks, input endorsers enable higher transaction rates.

For input endorsers to be successful, changes to Ouroboros, ADA’s proof-of-stake consensus system, may be required. According to the IOG Principal Technical Architect, efforts are being made to publish a new version of Ouroboros that can scale to make use of all the resources on Cardano’s servers. Additionally, IOG is creating the Leios stage of the Ouroboros.

Peer-to-peer communication

A further step toward giving the community authority over the network is peer-to-peer networking. Distributed nodes, which are controlled by operators of stake pools, power Cardano. IOG has been operating nodes to help with node-to-node communication up until recently, supported by a topology created by the community. Peer-to-peer networking will do away with this IOG connectivity framework and promote peer-to-peer direct communication in its place.

Cardano – Vasil hard fork

The Vasil enhancements are an essential part of the Cardano roadmap’s Basho period optimization and scalability efforts to better support Defi apps and foster development and acceptance.
